Red Dead Redemption 2 เกมว่าที่ Game of The Years จากหลาย ๆ สำนัก ด้วยระบบการเล่นที่ยอดเยี่ยม กราฟิกที่เทพ เนื้อเรื่องที่ดีและดนตรีที่ใช่ ทำให้เกมนี้กลายเป็นเกมที่จะคว้าทุกรางวัลเกี่ยวกับวงการเกมในปี 2018 แต่หลังจากผิดหวังกับเวที Joystick Awards ที่พลาดให้กับเกม Fortnite ไปทางทีมงาน Rockstars ก็กลับมาสู้อีกครั้งในงาน The Game Awards
เว็บไซด์ของเกม Red Dead Redemption 2 ได้ประกาศว่าตัวเกมได้เข้าชิงรางวัลมากถึง 8 สาขาในงาน The Game Awards ประกอบไปด้วย
- Game of The Year
- Best Action/Adventure Game
- Best Game Direction
- Best Narrative
- Best Art Direction
- Best Score/Music
- Best Audio Design
- Best Performance: Roger Clark as Arthur Morgan
โดยเกม Red Dead Redemption 2 เป็นผู้ท้าชิงรางวัลต่าง ๆ ของงาน Game Awards แซงเกม The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild ที่ในปี 2017 เข้าชิงเพียง 6 สาขาและคว้าไป 3 รางวัลคือ Game of The Year ปี 2017, Best Game Direction, Best Action/Adventure
